Westchester Country Day School participated in the United Way of Greater High Point CANpaign food drive to support local organizations that distribute food in the community.

United Way CANpaign logoDuring the week of Sept. 19-23, students donated a total of 1,646 food items. The United Way will distribute these donations and others collected throughout the community to local food pantries.

The food drive was a school-wide initiative of C.A.R.E.S. Crews, a program that pairs students from different grade levels pre-K through 12th together to learn about and complete projects of compassion, awareness, responsibility, empathy and service. Throughout the year, crews perform acts of service for others around our school, neighboring communities, nation and the world to show others that Westchester cares.

C.A.R.E.S. Crew 1, the team of first grade and eighth grade buddies, brought it the largest collection of items with a total of 398. The first and eighth grade students will enjoy an ice cream party together soon to thank them for their generosity and participation.
