The musical production features a cast of more than 70 students from first through 12th grades. The cast is led by seniors Emma Engle as Moana, Madalyn Adams as Gramma Tala, and Caroline Griffith as Maui. The show is directed by faculty member Debby Noyes. The set and costumes are designed and created by Westchester students, faculty, parents and Friends of the Fine Arts volunteers. The Upper School Play Production class also contributes to set construction, lighting and sound.

With music by music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’I and Mark Mancina, book adapted by Susan Soon He Stanton, and music and orchestrations adapted and arranged by Ian Weinberger, “Disney’s Moana Jr.” is based on the 2016 Disney film “Moana.” This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, “Moana Jr.” is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.
