The 2022-2023 fall athletic season wrapped up with all varsity teams competing in the NCISAA State Tournaments.

The Varsity Girls Golf team led by first-year head coach Marcy Newton won the PTAC Conference Championship behind medalist and Conference Player of the Year Madi Dial, a 10th grader.

In cross country, senior Cruz Hesling became the first boys team runner for Westchester to win back-to-back individual cross country state championships. Senior Ali Schwartz finished out her WCDS career with a fifth-place overall finish in the state championship.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team lost to Carolina Friends in the third round of the state tournament after a successful 11-3 regular season.

The Varsity Girls Volleyball and Varsity Girls Tennis improved throughout their competitive seasons and gained great experience competing in the state tournament, both advancing to the second round.

At the Middle School level, the teams proved why the future looks so bright for Wildcat athletics.

“Westchester thanks all of our great fans who supported the Cats,” said Adam Schwartz, director of athletics. “Our student-athletes, parents and boosters were complimented all fall in regard to sportsmanship, class and hospitality, especially for the 2A Soccer State Championship. I can’t thank all of our volunteers enough for helping host so many fun games at WCDS.”
