Westchester Country Day School is charging ahead with thoughtful preparations for students to return on August 26 for the first day of school. As of now, Westchester plans to begin the school year with students on campus unless instructed otherwise by state and local officials.

"We have learned to expect that everything is subject to change, but we hope you are encouraged to hear that it is our desire and intent for learning to continue on our campus in the new school year," said Cobb Atkinson, Head of School, in an email to parents and faculty. "In order to make that possible, we are working hard to ensure the continued safety and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff."

A task force of administrators, staff, and parents are gathering information and developing plans for the health protocols that will need to be followed this year. The school has shared a Reopening Planning Overview with parents and faculty that outlines what is known so far and what steps the school will take this summer to prepare for the next academic year. This includes providing teachers Pre-K through 12 with training for distance learning should it be needed during the year.
