Join the first WCDS Community Conversation on Exploring How to Include Everyone's Voice on Thursday, October 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. These conversations are open to parents, alumni, faculty, staff and students and will be held on the third Thursday of each month via Zoom web conference.

During each session, participants will be facilitated in creating a “brave space” for all voices to be heard, voiced and challenged in a healthy manner.

These events are part of a broader conversation on diversity, inclusion and belonging at WCDS. This summer, the leadership of the Board of Trustees and the school administration began working with Jada Monica Drew, a diversity consultant in Greensboro, and her company, Social Designs, to develop an action plan for the school. Drew is an experienced speaker and facilitator who has worked with a number of independent schools across North Carolina and beyond.

The administrative team, the Board of Trustees, and faculty and staff are participating in training sessions that will continue throughout the school year. A faculty learning team and student groups looking at diversity and inclusion on campus have also formed and are meeting regularly.
