At Westchester Country Day School, we our proud of the community and family-like feel of our school, and that extends seamlessly into our extended day program including before- and after-school programming.
Our Extended Day programs provide a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for students in grades PK–8 before and after school hours. Designed to support our families, the programs combine supervised homework time with enriching activities, such as arts, STEM projects, outdoor play, and snack. Students enjoy opportunities to explore new interests, develop friendships across grade levels, and continue their day in a relaxed, supportive setting — all while remaining on our campus and cared for by trusted school staff.
Before-School Care
A safe and welcoming space for PK–8 students to arrive early and begin their day with ease from 7–7:45 a.m.
After-School Care
More than just supervision for grades PK–8, it’s a time for students to explore and grow in a supportive environment
After-School Electives
Special programs based around a theme or interest offered by WCDS faculty and coaches during short sessions through the year
Lower School After-School Options
There are many choices for Lower School students to explore in the afternoons. In addition to the extended day programs, Lower School students may be able to participate in theatre productions, private music lessons, or Odyssey of the Mind. For grades 3-5, an after-school choir called Footnotes meets weekly and performs in the community. Some programs require additional fees. Information on how to sign up for all of these opportunities is included in the school’s weekly emails.
Middle School After-School Options
Middle School students are encouraged to participate in our athletic program with practices that last until 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday for a variety of sports offered in three seasons. Students are also encouraged to participate in theatre productions or private music lessons. Once practices end, if students need to remain on campus, they go to the After-School Care program.
