WCDS School of Music

The convenience of private music lessons on the WCDS campus

The Westchester School of Music nurtures creativity, self-expression, intellectual development and self-confidence as students develop the skills to become proficient musicians. Extracurricular private lessons are taught by experienced instructors and are offered at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for the following instruments:

  • Guitar
  • Piano
  • Voice
  • Violin

Thirty-minute lessons are offered during the school day at a time that works for the student's schedule or after school. Longer lessons may be available for more advanced students with instructor approval. Students in all divisions may participate, depending on the individual teacher’s policy.

Cost

Lessons are billed at $45 per 30-minute lesson for 15 lessons per semester. There is no recital fee. A charge of $15 for materials will be added to each registration. Lessons are generally kept to 30 minutes with the exception of advanced level students. Parents may contact the instructors with questions.

Cancellation Policy

Once lessons have been scheduled for a semester, students are expected to follow through with their commitments, and no refunds or credits will be allowed. If a lesson is cancelled due to closure of school, class field trips, or teacher illness, missed classes will be rescheduled, usually at the end of each semester. Classes missed due to student absence for reasons not listed above will not be rescheduled. Students missing three or more lessons due to extended illness may receive credit as determined by the Director of Arts.

Join Us

Performances

Live performances are an integral part of musical education. Performance opportunities are scheduled throughout the year, and students are encouraged to participate. Teachers will communicate recital/performance dates with parents.

Parent Involvement

While not a requirement, we strongly encourage parent participation in music lessons with pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students. It is the parent's responsibility to understand how and what to practice with their young child each day at home.
