The Westchester Country Day School Indexed Tuition program is designed to make a WCDS education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds.
Many factors are taken into consideration in determining the amount a family can afford, including income (taxable and nontaxable), assets, number of dependents, and number of children attending schools that charge tuition. Medical expenses, earning potential for spouse not employed outside the home, consumer debt, automobiles (fair market and/or leased value), recreational vehicles, second homes, vacation expenses, and family enrichment activities are also considered.
Westchester uses an objective, third-party service to collect this information and calculate baseline Indexed Tuition determinations. We also take into consideration our school’s policies and the resources available for returning and prospective families.
Although decisions about admission and Indexed Tuition are made at the same time, the two processes are separate. All provided financial information is held in strict confidence and is not shared with anyone outside of the Indexed Tuition committee.

Westchester is proud to use the Clarity application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application, which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.
Our goal is to make the Indexed Tuition application process as easy as possible for your family.
- To get started, go to the Clarity application and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete and is compatible with mobile devices. You can also save your progress and return at any time.
- At the end of the application, if you are a U.S. taxpayer, you will follow the steps to authorize the IRS to share a transcript of your W-2 (s) and personal tax return. Clarity has found that U.S. taxpayers who have IRS.gov accounts before starting the Clarity application have a much easier time completing this Verification process.
- There is a $65 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.
- Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity application to confirm that your application is complete, including any relevant supplemental documents.
If you need support while completing your application, there is in-app support available through the “Help” button on the screen, as well as email and phone support at support@clarityapp.com or 206-210-3752, in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish.
