Computer Science Teacher

Westchester is seeking a Middle School and Upper School Computer Science Teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year. The position includes teaching responsibilities in computer science and robotics as well as advisory and extracurricular responsibilities. Previous teaching experience and familiarity with programming and coding in one or more languages is preferred. Part-Time Language Arts Teacher

Westchester Country is seeking a part-time Middle School Language Arts Teacher for the 2019-2020 academic year. The position includes teaching responsibilities in language arts and possibly advisory and extracurricular responsibilities. Previous teaching experience is preferred. Director of Communications and Marketing

The Director of Communications and Marketing is a 12-month, administrative position charged with advancing the following institutional priorities:

  • Plan and execute programs that enhance the visibility and public perception of the school.
  • Organize activities that support the admissions, marketing, and development objectives of the school.
  • Maintain the school’s brand by coordinating and approving all use of school logo and name.

Specific responsibilities:

      • Plan, coordinate, and execute internal and external school communications with all constituents including parents, alumni, donors, prospective families, and outside community.
      • Assist with the development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan and work closely with the Admissions, Alumni, and Development Offices in establishing timetables and priorities for implementation.
      • Manage the production of the Wildcat Paws, the school's magazine for alumni, parents, and friends.
      • Oversee and implement the production of the Westchester Today, the school's monthly newsletter as well as This Week at Westchester, the school’s weekly email blast.
      • Manage the school website and social media accounts to ensure they provide the most current and up-to-date information about school life.
      • Manage media relations, including writing press releases and cultivating relations with local media. Attend school events and take photographs for publication/social media.
      • Oversee the production of all school publications, including handbooks and event invitations and programs.
      • Oversee annual marketing budget and place and produce advertisements and brochures for admissions purposes.
      • Oversee Proud Parent word-of-mouth marketing program.
      • Assist with development projects and donor relations.
      • Maintain competency for necessary graphics and software programs, such as In-Design, Adobe Photoshop, and Blackbaud products, such as NetCommunity, Education Edge, and Raiser’s Edge.
      • Manage, coordinate, and assist with on and off campus events such as Auction, Grandparents Day, Prom, Graduation, etc.

Director of Food Services

The Food Service Director is a ten-month staff member who follows the same calendar as the faculty. The Food Service Director reports to the Director of Finance and the Head of School.

Principal duties include:

          • Budgeting of department finances.
          • Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating cafeteria staff.
          • Preparing monthly payroll information.
          • Reconciling invoices and submitting to finance department for payment.
          • Planning menu and developing recipes.
          • Publishing monthly menu and sending for posting on the website.
          • Working closely with school nurse and parents of students who have food allergies or special food requirements.
          • Ordering all food and arranging delivery in a timely manner and with minimal disruption to the school schedule.
          • Evaluating equipment needs for repair or purchasing new as needed.
          • Working closely with architects or builders as new facilities are planned.
          • Staying current on Health Department regulations, keeping current SafeServe certification, and making sure the facility is in compliance.

Assistant Director of Finance/Director of Transportation

General Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the Director of Finance in the day-to-day operations of the school’s Business Office, and manage specific elements of that office such as transportation, benefits and student billing.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

          • Manage the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year, with the admissions office.
          • Prepare monthly student billing statements.
          • Process accounts payable on a weekly basis.
          • Manage accounts receivables & deposits.
          • File sales and use tax monthly and semi-annually.
          • Manage revenue/expenses for the parent organizations.
          • Responsible for reporting revenue/expenses to appropriate parent organization representatives.
          • Facilitate the registration and payments for the Fine Arts and After-School programs.
          • Co-manage the HR function including the school’s health, dental, life and retirement benefits, payroll and new hire onboarding.
          • Create and manage bus routes.
          • Oversee all maintenance of bus fleet.
          • Schedule transportation for all field trips.

Academic Support Teacher

Westchester Country Day School seeks an Academic Support Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The position will be split between working individually or in a small group with students in our Academic Support program and assisting teachers in classrooms with small groups of students. The current position is part-time with potential to move to a full-time teaching load. WCDS seeks to educate each child toward moral, academic, artistic, and athletic excellence in a nurturing, family environment where students, teachers, and parents support one another. By respecting the student and honoring learning, Westchester aims to cultivate informed citizens who are ready for a rapidly changing world and to graduate students who view the pursuit and wise use of knowledge as a lifelong joy. Candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the field of education, preferably in the field of special education. A candidate with Wilson Reading System (WRS) Level I and II training is also desired. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
