Charles A. Hamblet appointed Headmaster By Board of Trustees
HIGH POINT, N.C., June 22, 2007 -- For many months your Head of School Search Committee in consultation with our retained Search Advisory Team has been diligently reviewing stacks of resumes, evaluating recommendations, bringing candidates to High Point, and carefully and thoroughly interviewing candidates to become our next Head of School. Throughout the entire search process, the Trustees continued to hear many students, faculty, parents, and friends of our School opine that unquestionably the absolute best selection for our next Head of School would be our own Chuck Hamblet. Many urged both the Search Committee and Trustees "not to let this wonderful couple slip away" from us. As a result, Chuck was in fact asked to be considered along with the other candidates. When presented with this opportunity, the Hamblets agreed to be considered.
Following a vigorous and lively interviewing process by your Search Committee--in which Chuck very ably evaluated our School, expressed his dreams and aspirations for the School's future, and delineated the work that needs to be done to positively move our School forward--your Search Committee unanimously and enthusiastically recommended to the Board of Trustees Chuck Hamblet's appointment as the next Head of School. I am privileged to report that the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Charles A. Hamblet as the next Head of School for a three year term beginning July 1, 2007, with the possibility of one year extensions in the future.
The Board's approval is without any reservation or hesitation. There is no doubt the Hamblets are the right fit for our School. Chuck and Carol in their short time with us have shown unparalleled passion and love for our School. In his service as Interim Head, Chuck has exhibited leadership and professionalism beyond reproach. Together, the Hamblets have encouraged us to stretch farther, reach higher, and dig deeper to make our School one of excellence in every way. We are all incredibly better and more blessed having known them for just a year—and now they will continue to provide leadership and friendship for many more years. We are truly fortunate that our School's path has intersected with their path. Now our paths are one.
Please give many thanks to your Search Committee, so ably headed by Brian Bunch and which consisted of Karen Boggis, Moo Moo Councill, George Crouse, Nancy Holland, Chuck Ledford, Marcella McInnis, Everett Padgett, Royster Tucker, and Tim Williford for a job well done. Each of these persons contributed many hours for over a year in a labor of love for our School.
