Westchester Country Day School Students Place in Singing Contest

HIGH POINT, N.C., Apr. 14, 2008 -- Two Westchester Country Day School students excelled at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional competition April 5 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. Voice students from North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia participated.

Ninth-grader Jay Kennedy placed 1st in both the Freshman/Sophomore Advanced Classical Division and Freshman/Sophomore Advanced Musical Theater Division.

Westchester 11th-grader Corley Gibbs placed 2nd in the Junior/Senior Advanced High School Classical Division.

Both are students of Dr. Alexa Schlimmer, professor of voice at High Point University.
