The application form is available online or may be obtained from the Admissions Office.
A non-refundable fee of $75.00 must accompany each application for admission.
Students applying to grades PK-5 should give the two evaluation forms (provided by Westchester) to current, most recent teachers, or teacher's assistants. The forms should be returned to the Westchester Country Day School Office of Admissions in the envelopes provided.
Middle & Upper School
Students applying for grades 6-12 should give the three evaluation forms (provided by Westchester) to a current or most recent English teacher, Math teacher, and a third teacher of the student's choice. The forms should be returned to the Westchester Country Day School Admissions Office in the envelopes provided.
Please provide current or prior school transcripts and report cards. Feel free to include any additional information that you have.
Rising Pre-K students are expected to be 4 by August 1st of the intended school year. For rising Pre-K students, the Gesell Development Observation is administered to determined developmental readiness. The Admissions Office will contact all applicants to arrange these times.
Rising Kindergarten students are expected to be five by August 1st of the intended school year. For rising Kindergarten students, the Gesell Developmental Observation Assesment is individually administered to determine developmental and academic readiness. The Admissions Office will contact all applicants to arrange these times.
For rising first grade students, the Metropolitan Readiness Test is administered. This instrument emphasizes the strategies and processes in beginning reading and math. The Admissions Office will contact all applicants to arrange these times.
For applicants to grades 2-12, Educational Records Bureau (ERB) Comprehensive Testing Program is utilized. The ERB examines the student's performance in reading comprehension and math. An essay is also given to assess the student's writing ability. The topic is appropriate to the grade level. The Admissions Office will contact all applicants to arrange these times.
The student's family is asked to visit Westchester; in addition, Lower, Middle and Upper School students are encouraged to shadow during the school day with a current student. The Admissions Office will help arrange school visits.
