Scholarships 2007-2008

The following list represents scholarship information that has been received by Mrs. Flythe. Students should feel free to stop by Mrs. Flythe's office to pick up information about these scholarships or to talk about other scholarships that might fit the students’ needs and talents. Additional scholarship information will be posted on this site as it becomes available.

  • AXA Foundation Achievement Scholarship
    Criteria: AXA Achievers are students who set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college. 52 students will receive $10,000 scholarships, and 10 students will receive $10,000 scholarships.   • Civic Engagement Scholarship
    Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA is offering several scholarships valued up to $105,000 for four years. This scholarship is for community service and leadership. See Mrs. Flythe for details.
  • Elon University Scholarships
    Leon and Lorraine Watson North Carolina Scholarship and The Honorable Thad Eure Scholarship. Both scholarships are for students from NC who demonstrate significant financial need. See Mrs. Flythe for an application.
  • Greensboro College Scholarships
    A variety of scholarships are available. Go to www.gborocollege.edu to learn more.
  • Gardner-Webb University Fellows Scholarship
    Requirements: 3.6 GPA, 1130 or higher SAT (CR + M). See Mrs. Flythe for more information.
  • James Edward Oglethorpe Scholarship
    Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA is offering several scholarships valued up to $105,000 for four years. This scholarship is for superior academic achievement and leadership. See Mrs. Flythe for details.
  • Johnson & Wales University
    Chancellor's Scholarship program. See Mrs. Flythe for details.
  • Morehead-Cain Foundation Scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill
    The Morehead-Cain Scholarship targets well-rounded, dynamic young leaders. Applicants should demonstrate the qualities of leadership, scholarship, moral force of character, and physical vigor. They should come from the top of the class. The middle 50% of last year’s scholars earned SAT scores totaling between 2050 and 2230. Westchester will nominate up to two seniors who will be designated school nominees, however, any student may complete an application as a direct applicant. See Mrs. Flythe for application details.
  • NC Wesleyan College

  • Roanoke College Scholars Program
    Go to www.roanoke.edu/scholars to learn more about these scholarships.
  • State Funded Grants & Loans
    Information on acquiring state-funded grants, scholarship loans, and other funding for students interested in teaching, nursing, or other healthcare careers is available in Mrs. Flythe's office. You may also go to the CFNC website for information (www.CFNC.org) .
