After an extensive and thorough search, the Westchester Board of Trustees announced in November the hiring of Mr. Cobb Atkinson as our next Head of School. Cobb will be coming to us from Valwood School in Valdosta, Georgia, where he is in his seventh year as Headmaster.
Cobb received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and has graduate degrees from Harvard University, Columbia University, and Middlebury College. In addition to his experience as Headmaster, he has served as an Academic Dean, English Department Chair, AP English teacher, and Technology Coordinator. He also spent a year at The Klingenstein Center as a research assistant.
In addition to his work in education, Cobb is very active in the community. He serves on the executive board for Boy Scouts, is a board member for the Valdosta Rotary Club, and is on the church council at First United Methodist Church.
Cobb and his wife Raegan have two children. Raegan taught Upper School English for many years before starting a family.
"They are an extraordinary couple that will be a wonderful addition to Westchester," said MooMoo Councill, president of the Board of Trustees.
